Software Engineer II - GraphQL Platform

Salary Range: $165,000 - $181,500 per year Location: Mountain View, CA This position is a hybrid in-office role that works out of our Mountain View, CA office (Tuesday–Thursday) Wayfair is a leader in the e-commerce space for all things home. We’re looking for smart, passionate and self-driven thinkers who can produce and advocate for scalable designs of our federated GraphQL infrastructure and tooling. As a software engineer you’ll have a multitude of opportunities to flex your strengths as we reinvent the future of our existing GraphQL design and implementation. The GraphQL team is responsible for building out the design, tooling, and best practices that will enable our thousands of engineers to build robust, scalable, and performant graph endpoints to the delight of our customers and millions of daily requests. This is not a boring job and indeed very challenging but rewarding for curious people ready to embrace the breath of the GraphQL Platform scope. What You'll Do Build, enhance software and support our GraphQL platform ecosystem.Help make decisions to drive the GraphQL technology platform and roadmap for the team.Implement and advocate engineering best practices, helping level up the engineers inside and outside the team.Support and help our Wayfair GraphQL community. What You'll Need 2+ years of software development experience in modern distributed services architecture.Proficiency in several programming languages (Java, TypeScript, Rust, Javascript or equivalent).Pride to deliver consistently with a high bar for engineering excellence practices.Strong curiosity for infrastructure solutions (Kubernetes, Docker, Cloud, etc.)Appetite to optimize delivery processes (Github, Buildkite, etc.)Readiness to learn and improve your skills across broad technology domains.Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse, talented team.Excellent communication skills and passion for teaching and sharing knowledge with others.
