About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Backend Architect to lead our backend team while remaining actively involved in development.
You'll own architecture decisions for distributed services that need to be fast, reliable, and secure at scale, while partnering closely with our SDK team to deliver client features end-to-end.
This role suits someone who wants to design secure, scalable systems and write the code that runs them.
Responsibilities:
Define and evolve the architecture of our backend platform serving connections from millions of usersDesign and build highly available distributed services in GolangSet technical direction on scalability, reliability, and performance targets, and drive the team to meet themPartner with the SDK team to integrate client features cleanly into backend systems Lead code reviews and champion testing discipline, clean architecture, and engineering best practicesMentor engineers and grow the technical depth of the teamCollaborate with security, infrastructure, and product team, ship reliable products
Requirements:
3+ years of backend engineering experience, with 1+ years in GolangTrack record of designing and operating distributed systems at scale: Design preparation for Architectural/System design; Distributed systems concepts; Data distribution concepts; Synchronous and asynchronous replication; Idempotency tokensDeep understanding of networking protocols (IP, TCP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, etc) Experience with VPN protocols (WireGuard, OpenVPN, IPsec),tunneling, NAT traversal, and low-latency networkingWorking knowledge of cryptography fundamentals, threat modeling methodologies, and secure coding practicesStrong API designskills, with experience defining clear, durableinterfaces between servicesStrong Linux development experienceProduction experience on AWS (EC2,EKS, S3, and managed databases like Aurora or RDS)Understanding of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and collaboration skillsProactive communicator who can distillcomplex technical issues for variedaudiences and lead by exampleFluent EnglishBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
