Location: San Francisco, CA Work arrangement: On-site, five days per week Compensation: $180,000–$235,000 base salary + 0.10%–1.25% equity About the roleWe’re looking for a Staff Frontend Engineer to own the frontend of an AI-powered design product. You’ll join a small, highly technical eight-person startup building creative intelligence tools that make AI genuinely effective at design. This is a hands-on role for someone who can independently shape frontend architecture, make strong product decisions, and ship polished, technically complex browser experiences. What you’ll doOwn the product frontend end-to-end, from architecture through implementationBuild polished, responsive, and highly performant user experiencesDesign complex frontend systems, including generative galleries, interactive design tools, and infinite-canvas-style interfacesMake technical decisions autonomously in a fast-moving startup environmentPush the boundaries of browser performance using deep DOM and rendering expertiseWork closely with the founders and design engineer to turn ambitious product ideas into exceptional user experiencesEstablish frontend standards and document processes as the engineering team scalesWhat we’re looking for6+ years of frontend engineering experienceExpert-level experience with React, Next.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSSDeep knowledge of the DOM, browser internals, rendering, and frontend performanceExperience independently designing and shipping complex frontend systemsStrong product and design sensibility—you can build beautiful UI without requiring detailed designer directionExperience owning major products or features from zero to launchComputer Science degree or equivalent technical backgroundComfortable working in a small team with limited existing process documentationAble to work from our San Francisco office five days per weekParticularly relevant backgroundsWe’re especially interested in candidates who have: Built products at design-forward companies such as Figma, Framer, Canva, Webflow, Vercel, Notion, Raycast, or similarWorked as a founding or early engineer at a high-quality Seed or Series A startupBuilt visual editors, creative tools, infinite canvases, collaborative interfaces, animation systems, or other complex browser-based productsShipped customer-facing frontend products at a high-engineering-bar companyWork authorizationWe cannot provide new H-1B sponsorship.
