We're building one of Europe's largest self-managed analytical data platforms. Our environment processes massive volumes of real-time and historical data, powering analytics, operational reporting, machine learning, and internal products used across the business. We're looking for an engineer whose expertise lies in OLAP databases and analytical query engines. If you've spent years working on systems like ClickHouse, Apache Druid or Apache Pinot, you will love this role. This is not a traditional data engineering position focused on building pipelines. Instead, you'll own the performance, scalability, reliability and evolution of large-scale analytical infrastructure. What You'll Work On Design, build and operate large-scale OLAP platforms based on technologies such as:ClickHouseApache DruidApache PinotImprove query performance for petabyte-scale analytical workloads.Design efficient storage layouts, indexing strategies and partitioning models.Optimize ingestion pipelines for both real-time and batch workloads.Improve cluster reliability, fault tolerance and operational excellence.Build tooling around observability, metadata, automation and platform usability.Work on distributed systems involving compute, storage and networking.Partner with data engineers, backend engineers and analytics teams to improve time-to-insight.Evaluate new technologies and architectural improvements for next-generation analytical infrastructure. Your Background We're primarily looking for engineers with deep experience operating one or more analytical database technologies in production. Strong experience with: ClickHouse, Apache Druid and/or Apache PinotDistributed databasesOLAP query optimizationColumnar storage enginesLarge-scale analytical workloadsData partitioning and indexingReal-time ingestionCluster performance tuningDistributed systems architecture Programming: Python (preferred)Java, Go or Rust are strong pluses Scale You'll work on infrastructure operating at significant scale, including: Hundreds of nodesTens of thousands of CPU coresHundreds of terabytes of memoryPetabytes of analytical storageTens of thousands of distributed compute jobs every day Who You Are You enjoy solving difficult distributed systems problems.You care about performance.You enjoy benchmarking databases.You naturally investigate query plans, indexing strategies, storage formats and latency improvements.You like building infrastructure that other engineers depend on.Ideal Background Compensation: Up to 180K TC (depending on experience) + healthcare, pension, etc. and a permanent contract from the start. Relocation and visa sponsorship is possible for senior+ candidates.
