DevOps Engineer Permanent Location: Cheltenham - hybrid working, two to three days per week onsite Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 plus benefits, including a travel allowance Skills: OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, Node.js, JavaScript, CI/CD We are looking to recruit an SC Cleared DevOps Engineer to join a leading technology consultancy. You will join a team working on an exciting project. Due to the nature of the work valid SC Clearance is required. The programme is delivering new capabilities and enhancements to a bespoke Node.js application. This is a DevOps-focused position rather than a traditional software development role. You will work closely with software engineers, architects and technical leads to improve deployment processes, platform reliability, security and operational performance. This is a hybrid role requiring onsite attendance in Cheltenham two to three days per week. Travel expenses will be covered through an agreed travel allowance. The role You will be responsible for supporting and improving the delivery and operation of a containerised application environment. Your responsibilities will include: Building, maintaining and improving CI/CD pipelinesSupporting application deployments across production and non-production environmentsManaging and troubleshooting OpenShift and Kubernetes environmentsAutomating operational and deployment processesImproving platform reliability, resilience, security and performanceSupporting the efficient release of new software capabilitiesInvestigating and resolving application and environment issuesContributing to technical scoping, estimation and delivery planningPromoting DevOps best practices across the wider programmeWorking closely with development teams to deliver secure, scalable and maintainable solutions Essential experience We are looking for candidates with strong experience in several of the following areas: OpenShiftKubernetesDockerCI/CD pipelinesDevOps automationProduction and non-production environment supportNode.jsJavaScriptTroubleshooting containerised applicationsPlatform reliability and operational resilience Experience supporting Node.js applications would be particularly valuable, although the role is primarily focused on DevOps, deployment and platform responsibilities.
