JUNIOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

Job Summary This position supports the development of software applications by designing, coding, testing, and documenting technical solutions. This position requires hands-on engagement in back-end and front-end tasks, contributing to modular builds, user interfaces, and database logic. The Jr. Software Developer collaborates with technical leads to resolve code-level issues, participates in Agile events, and implements features according to specifications. As with any position, additional expectations exist. Responsibilities Configure, install, and troubleshoot applications in GovCloud environments and on-premise servers.Develop procedures, programs and documentation for IT system, backup and restoration of operating systems, data replication across cloud data centers, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) artifacts such as the Systems Security Contingency Plan and Disaster Recover Procedure.Conduct risk and vulnerability assessment for system and perform system migrations as required. Participate in network and system design to ensure implementation of appropriate system security policies. Perform Security Technology Implementation Guide (STIG) and Information Assurance (IA) validation as required.Apply required IA and security requirements and other required operating system and software updates.Design, develop, and maintain software applications supporting NAVSEA enterprise systems.Perform technical planning, system integration, verification, and validation of applications.Configure and optimize application performance, including tuning for speed, scalability, and security.Implement provisioning and deployment procedures for multiple software environments.Develop recovery and contingency plans to ensure system continuity. Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity teams to ensure security compliance and system reliability. Support migration and integration of applications to cloud or hybrid environments (e.g., Microsoft Azure Government, AWS GovCloud). Implement solutions leveraging cloud-native services, ensuring security, compliance, and scalability Debug and fix issues in code under supervision of senior staffMaintain and update source control (Git), wikis, and ticketing systemsParticipate in design sessions, sprint planning, and daily stand-upsCollaborate with analysts to refine functional and technical requirementsDocument technical procedures and assist in peer reviews Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and at least 2 years of relevant experience OR High school degree, or a GED, and ten (10) years of relevant experience in engineering0-2 years of software development experienceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational and planning skillsExcellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize workProficiency with one or more of: Java, C#, PythonFamiliarity with Git, SQL, and HTML/CSS/JavaScriptU.S. Citizenship and Active DoD SECRET Security Clearance or the ability to obtain oneIf applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered Preferred Qualifications Knowledge / experience in Java (J2EE & JSF)Oracle experience (Database, WebLogic, Enterprise Manager)Experience with Web Enterprise ApplicationExperience with Web ServersExperience in Red Hat 8PrimeFacesOracle JDeveloper Studio Company Summary Join the VSolvit Team!
