You Are UST is seeking a Java Developer to join a high-performing Capital Markets technology team supporting one of North America's largest financial institutions. This role sits within a Front Office environment focused on electronic trading, market data, pricing, and execution platforms across Fixed Income products. The Opportunity Design, develop, and support Front Office trading, pricing, market data, and risk applications. Partner directly with trading, sales, and quantitative teams to gather requirements and deliver technology solutions. Build and maintain high-performance, highly available systems supporting electronic trading workflows. Develop and enhance distributed, event-driven applications and messaging architectures. Contribute to the delivery of scalable and resilient trading technology platforms. Participate in software development lifecycle activities, including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support. Collaborate with globally distributed technology teams across multiple time zones. Support continuous improvement initiatives and adoption of modern development and DevOps practices. This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required. What You Need 3-5 years of experience developing Front Office trading, pricing, risk, or market data applications. Strong Core Java development experience (JDK 17+ preferred). Experience delivering electronic trading solutions in capital markets environments. Ability to work directly with trading, sales, and quantitative teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions. Strong understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous messaging patterns. Experience developing high-performance and highly available applications. Experience with modern software development and DevOps practices including Git, Bitbucket, Jira, TeamCity, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, and Artifactory. Experience using enterprise messaging and data distribution technologies such as Solace, Aeron, Redis, Hazelcast, Tibco RV, or similar technologies. Knowledge of fixed income markets and products. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technology teams. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced Front Office environment. Comfortable working with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting electronic trading platforms within Fixed Income markets. Knowledge of USD Treasury, Agency, Money Market, Investment Grade Credit, Securitized Products, or Canadian Fixed Income products. Experience with low-latency design techniques, performance optimization, and GC tuning. Experience building market data, pricing, quoting, or automated execution systems. Experience with KDB+/q and time-series data platforms. Familiarity with electronic trading protocols and connectivity standards. Experience working in Linux environments and cloud-enabled infrastructure. Exposure to pre-trade risk controls and automated trading workflows. Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below. Role Location: Hybrid-Ontario Compensation Range: $104,000-$130,000 Benefits Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They and their dependents residing in Canada are eligible for Supplemental Healthcare coverage, as well as Company-paid Employee Only basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage. Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year). They and their dependents residing in Canada are eligible for Supplemental Healthcare coverage, as well as Company-paid Employee Only basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage. Part-time regular and temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year).
