Senior DevOps Engineer

About the Client Our Client is seeking a proactive and technically skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join the Pricing Technology team supporting Supply, Trading and Shipping operations. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on expertise across a range of technologies including Java, AngularJS, PostgreSQL, OpenShift (AWS), Dataiku Platform, Python, Splunk, Grafana, and Spring Boot. Working within an Agile Scrum environment, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing business-critical pricing, valuation, and risk platforms while ensuring reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with business stakeholders, architects, and cross-functional technology teams to deliver innovative solutions and continuous improvements. Experience with AI-enabled solutions, intelligent automation, machine learning, generative AI, or advanced analytics will be highly advantageous. Job Responsibilities Operational Support & Platform Reliability Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution for operational issues related to digital products supporting valuation and risk commodity teams, including vendor products and bespoke application stacks.Ensure minimal downtime and swift incident recovery for business-critical applications.Support deployment and maintenance of applications and services in a cloud-native environment, primarily leveraging OpenShift on AWS.Ensure platform reliability, scalability, performance, and operational stability. Application Development & Enhancement Deliver enhancements and new features using Java, AngularJS, and Python.Develop and enhance backend services and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.Build and maintain responsive and intuitive front-end applications using Angular.Develop automation scripts and tools to improve operational efficiency and system reliability. Database & Data Platform Management Manage and optimise PostgreSQL databases, including data modelling, tuning, and performance optimisation.Ensure data integrity, availability, and scalability for high-availability applications.Support integration and operation of the Dataiku platform, enabling robust data pipelines and analytics workflows. Monitoring, Observability & Automation Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using Splunk and Grafana.Proactively identify system issues, performance bottlenecks, and operational risks.Build, optimise, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support rapid and reliable deployments.Drive automation initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort. Security & Compliance Embed security best practices across applications and infrastructure.Ensure all solutions meet compliance, governance, and regulatory requirements.Promote DevOps and operational excellence standards across the team. Stakeholder & Solution Leadership Engage business stakeholders to clarify requirements, challenge assumptions, and define desired outcomes.Lead technical discussions and recommend effective solution options.Work closely with architecture teams to define, refine, and align technology solutions.Conduct end-to-end walkthroughs of proposed solutions and secure stakeholder alignment prior to implementation.Evaluate opportunities to leverage AI, automation, and data-driven technologies to improve business outcomes and operational effectiveness. Agile Delivery & Continuous Improvement Participate actively in Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.Collaborate with developers, business analysts, operations teams, and product owners to deliver high-value solutions.Champion continuous improvement initiatives and operational maturity.Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing and innovation.Support the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies that deliver measurable business value. Job Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.Minimum 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in Enterprise Engineering, DevOps Engineering, Application Support, or Software Engineering.Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot for backend development and microservices architecture.Experience developing and supporting front-end applications using Angular.Proven expertise in PostgreSQL database design, administration, and optimisation.Strong proficiency in Python scripting and automation.Experience working with OpenShift and AWS cloud environments.Familiarity with Dataiku Platform or similar enterprise analytics and data engineering platforms.Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions using Splunk and Grafana.Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automation frameworks.Experience working within an Agile Scrum environment.Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to identify root causes and implement robust solutions.Confidence in leading stakeholder discussions, gathering requirements, and presenting solution recommendations.Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for improving business processes through automation, advanced analytics, and emerging technologies.Exposure to AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI, Intelligent Automation, or Advanced Analytics solutions will be an added advantage.Ability to mentor team members and contribute to a collaborative, high-performance culture.Adaptable, self-motivated, and committed to continuous learning and professional development.
