We are seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to our ARIS web application development and AI projects. The ideal candidate has experience with full-stack development using agentic coding tools like Claude Code, with a strong background in React programming, Java backend development and a passion for artificial intelligence and machine learning. This role involves collaborating with the development team to develop, implement, and maintain cutting-edge user interfaces and AI-based solutions. Essential functions: Software Development: Collaborate with the development team to design, implement, and maintain software solutions mainly using Java and React.Use agentic coding tools throughout the whole software development lifecycleCreate clean, efficient, and maintainable code that meets the product requirements.Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback. AI Features Implementation: Work closely with data scientists to translate AI algorithms into code.Implement and optimize machine learning algorithms for performance and scalability.Integrate AI models into existing software systems and platforms.Develop new end user interfaces for AI features based on React Testing, Debugging, Support and Maintenance: Develop unit tests and automated integration, UI, and performance tests to ensure software quality and reliability.Identify and debug issues in the codebase, providing timely resolutions, in particular while working on problems reported by our customers. Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for software components and algorithms.Document code changes, system configurations, and development processes. Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest advancements in web technologies, TypeScript/React and Java, and particularly in AI & machine learning technologies.Continuously improve technical skills through self-learning and professional development. Requirements: Preferably a master’s in computer science or a related field.Full-stack developer with strong proficiency and work experience in front-end development using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, CSS, Playwright, and backend development of REST services using Java and related frameworks like Spring.Experience with AI concepts, algorithms and frameworks, such as machine learning, deep learning, neural networks, natural language processing (NLP), or computer vision (CV) techniques.Knowledge of software development best practices, object-oriented design, design patterns, DevOps and version control systems.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Effective communication in German and English and collaboration abilities within a team environment. Nice to haves: Experience with IntelliJ IDEA or VSCODE, Git/GitHub, and other development and DevOps tools.Familiarity with Scrum as an agile development methodology.Previous exposure to programming against typical frontier LLMs in combination with Spring AI, based on self-hosting, or operated by cloud service providers.Experience using services from AWS or Azure as cloud computing platforms and containerization technologies like Kubernetes and related tools and frameworks.Experience using Claude Code and related skills from the vendor or community.
