PHP + AWS Developer | Hybrid Amsterdam | Mid-level/Senior
For a fast-growing tech company in Amsterdam, we are looking for a strong PHP + AWS Developer who wants to build on a platform with real impact, scale and technical complexity.
You will join a product environment where performance, search, data, backend quality and scalability directly influence the commercial success of the platform.
What you will be doing
You will work on the further development and optimization of a high-traffic platform, with a focus on backend development, cloud infrastructure and smart technical improvements.
This includes:
• Building and improving backend services in PHP
• Working on scalability, performance and reliability
• Integrating external systems and internal platform components
• Contributing to AWS infrastructure and deployment flows
• Improving search, data flows and platform logic
• Working closely with a compact and experienced engineering team
• Taking ownership of technical solutions that create direct business impact
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who is technically strong, but also thinks from a product perspective.
Someone who understands that good software does not just “work”, but should also be scalable, maintainable and well designed.
Important:
• Strong experience with PHP, preferably Laravel and/or Symfony
• Experience with AWS
• Backend-minded, but comfortable thinking beyond backend only
• Experience with APIs, integrations and platform development
• Understanding of performance, scalability and cloud-native development
• Independent, pragmatic and strong in communication
• Mid-level to senior level
Nice to have
• Experience with search solutions such as OpenSearch or Elasticsearch
• Experience with e-commerce, marketplaces, advertising tech or data-intensive platforms
• Knowledge of CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes or modern deployment pipelines
• Affinity with AI, search or product discovery is a plus
