AI Back-end Developer

As a preferred supplier to one of our biggest Banking clients, I am seeking a AI backend developer for our banking client in Amsterdam, Netherlands. 36- 40 hours 2 - 3 year project Hybrid (1 day per week onsite) The project and responsibilities: You will participate in the team’s Scrum setup, which includes both Back-End and Front-End chapter members. The team is relatively large but is divided into smaller sub-teams each quarter to handle most of the work and events. The team develops custom applications (case management systems) for internal clients, including Compliance, SIM, and Operations. These applications are fully developed and maintained by the team and run entirely in the Azure cloud. Hard Skills: Backend Development Designs and develops RESTful APIs, including clear API contracts and specificationsStrong experience with Python for backend services and integration componentsExperience with modern frameworks and tooling such as FastAPI, Pydantic, and PytestData & Persistence Designs and maintains database schemas aligned with application needsWrites efficient and scalable (complex) queriesCloud & Infrastructure Experience with Azure (or other cloud providers)Understands how to deploy, configure, and operate backend services in a cloud environment AI-Assisted Development (nice to have) Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot in VS Code / IDEs)Able to establish and maintain structured AI context (e.g. repository-level instructions, prompts, and reusable skills)Understands how to separate concerns between:instructions (boundaries and standards)prompts (task-specific guidance)skills (deeper implementation patterns)Guides AI tools by embedding team standards, architectural decisions, and best practices into reusable contextReduces rework and inconsistency by contributing to shared AI assets (templates, examples, and patterns)Critically evaluates AI-generated output and ensures alignment with quality, security, and maintainability expectationsIdentifies opportunities to scale AI usage across the team through structured approaches rather than ad-hoc prompting Soft Skills: Collaboration & Communication Collaborative and communicative across teamsClear reasoning and trade-off communication (explains the “why”)Encourages healthy debate, influences without pushing, and invites counter-argumentsOwnership & Impact Proactive, positive mindset with strong ownershipPragmatic in prioritisation (balances quality and delivery)Product- and value-focused (asks “what problem are we solving?”) If you want to be involved with tech innovation in a fast-paced environment with an employer that offers a generous rate then please don't delay in sending me your CV.
