The development team in Haarlem, located in a historic building in the city centre, is aiming to further innovate the services and shape the future of events. We are looking for an experienced Backend Developer to join our team to build the best and innovative features for millions of visitors and powerful functionalities for our clients. In the position of Backend Developer, you will build the best and innovative features for millions of visitors and powerful management functionalities for our clients. You will be responsible for translating requirements into features in the middleware and data layer of our platform. In addition, the software that operates on the Linux operating system and AWS Cloud environment are part of the software stack that you will maintain with the rest of the team. Key activities and responsibilities: Translate requirements into fully functioning features using C++, MySQL, Linux and the latest techniques and common frameworks like Git, GitLab, Jira, Confluence and AWS, in cooperation with the rest of the team. Create concepts/prototypes to be able to align project approach with selected stakeholders. Focus on improving the Visit products by incorporating enhancements into current development and/or making proposals to the roadmap for larger enrichments. Actively engage in continuous improvement with biweekly releases and sprint reviews, ensuring suggestions and opportunities are highlighted to your line manager. Collaborate and provide support to the wider Visit development team consisting of front- and back-end developers, hardware and DevOps engineers, project managers, testers, and technical writers. Skills, qualifications, and experience: Bachelor's or Master's level of education or working experience in relevant sector/field. Minimum of 3 years work experience in a similar role. Professional proficiency in the English language. Dutch language skills are a plus. The programming language we use is C++. Knowledge and experience of the latest C++ standard is required. Experience with SQL and common web techniques is recommended. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
